SkålCon is almost here! Are you excited!? (We hope the answer is yes).
Here’s some logistics about arrival, what to expect, and what to do when you get here – all in everyone’s favorite form of an FAQ.
What time does registration open each day?
Friday at 4:30 pm, Saturday at 8:00 am, and Sunday at 10:30 am. Registration will remain open until convention close each day.
Where is registration, at-con or for pre-registered attendees?
All registration is at our convention headquarters, which is the counter on the ‘left’ side of the event center space.
How do I register at the convention?
Just mosey on down to the convention headquarters, and someone will happily take your money. Registration is $25; cash is preferred, but we do accept checks and credit cards via online payments.
What time should I arrive each day?
Games start at 6:00 pm Friday, 8:00 am Saturday, and 11:00 am Sunday.
Please note that the start time for Saturday is exactly when the store opens for our convention. They will not let us in much earlier than 8:00 am, so don’t arrive super early unless you like waiting around in parking lots. Instead, use that wait time at your hotel/home to get squeaky clean before gaming all day – everyone will mentally thank you for that extra effort.
What can I do when I’m not gaming?
We have vendors who have neat things to sell and will donate a portion of their profits! Everyone wins, so visit them!
There are also raffle tickets to buy (and hopefully winning tickets to claim!), silent auctions to bid on, and souvenir SkålCon dice to acquire for $1 donations!
FFG has plenty of food and board games to purchase, or you could make a quick stop by a grocery store to pick up more items for the food drive!
How does the raffle work?
Head to the convention headquarters to check out what’s in our raffle prize area. Then buy some raffle tickets! We may need to scan your badge to get you your ticket number.
After that, just keep an eye out for your number to be posted as a winner! When you see your number, you can excuse yourself from your game to go pick up a raffle prize!
Raffle tickets are $5 each, and are good for the charity boon drawing that we’ll do on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Charity boon?
Since this is a convention for charity, Paizo provides a unique boon to distribute as a way to raise money. We’ll be using the raffle to pick the winner of the boon.
Copies of the boon will be available for everyone to look over before the drawing on Sunday at 1:00 pm. The winner need not be present to win, but eventually must provide their address to make it legit. Charity boons are serious business, y’all.
How does the silent auction work?
We’ll have papers with information about each auction item (which can also be observed from behind the counter). Simple write in your bid and contact information for any items you want to bid on over the weekend. The auction will end at 2:00 pm on Sunday. Once it’s over and if you have won an item, head over to the convention headquarters to pay for and receive your auction item. Again, cash is preferred, but we do take checks and credit cards via online payments.
